3 Smile-Friendly Stocking Stuffers
December 8, 2020
Believe it or not, the holidays are right around the corner which means you’re on the hunt for the perfect stocking stuffers. There are many goodies and sweet treats to choose from; however, don’t let the holidays leave a lasting mark on your family’s smiles. Your dentist in Midland has a few fun ideas to promote a healthy smile for the new year.
1. Awesome Toothbrush
A toothbrush is one of the most important tools for a healthy smile. There are many great options on the market, but some are more effective than others, like electronic ones. They offer more brush strokes per minute than a traditional toothbrush, making brushing more effective. You can ensure your loved one has everything they need for a healthy smile by stuffing their stocking with a new toothbrush. Choose one that has earned the American Dental Association’s Seal of Approval and has soft bristles. Also consider certain features for their individual needs, like a timer for children or a pressure sensor for an adult who tends to push too hard.
Encourage your loved ones to use their new toothbrushes to clean their teeth at least twice a day. Everyone should clean all surfaces of their teeth for at least 2 minutes each session.
2. Fun Dental Products
Besides a toothbrush, teeth and gums also rely on other dental products, like floss or mouthrinses. Add a variety of products along with the toothbrush, like flavored flosses or fluoride mouthrinses. Choose those that have earned the ADA’s Seal of Approval to ensure they are safe and effective for use.
Create a new routine for the entire family to use their products, like committing to flossing before bed. By making it a family event, you’ll keep dental health a priority while also making memories.
3. Healthy Snacks
No stocking is complete without treats, but you’ll want to avoid those that contain sugar, like candy or cookies. You can still hide a tasty surprise inside by choosing sugar-free gum, nuts, raisins, and other healthy snacks. If you can’t skip the candy, choose chocolate because it rinses from the teeth easier to lessen the risk of cavities.
In addition to the snacks found in their stockings, ensure your family has plenty of healthy food options during the holidays, like fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat cheese, and proteins. If your family can’t ignore their sweet tooth, ensure they brush their teeth well after they’ve finished their treat.
Promote a Healthy Smile
You can keep your family’s dental health a priority without dampening the festivities of the holidays by making a few simple changes. Don’t forget to book their second hygiene appointment before the end of the year.
