Valentine’s Gifts That Have Your Dentist’s Approval
February 13, 2024
When you think of Valentine’s Day gifts, you probably think of roses, boxes of chocolate, and romantic paddleboat rides on the river. While candy is often the go-to gift for your special someone on Valentine’s Day, sugary treats can feed the harmful oral bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum disease. Why not consider giving your significant other gifts that can bolster their oral health and help them enjoy a healthy smile for life? Here’s a brief list of Valentine’s gift Ideas that will have your loved one and their dentist smiling!
Dark Chocolate
If you have your heart set on giving your date a box of chocolates, have no fear! While milk chocolate is rich in sugar that can lead to nasty oral infections, dark chocolate is relatively low and sugar and rich in antioxidants. Dark chocolate is also not sticky or hard, meaning that it won’t break anyone’s teeth and can be easily cleaned away with normal oral hygiene practices. With a box of dark chocolates, you don’t have to let your favorite chocoholic do without on February 14!
A Massage or a Spa Treatment
Gift cards are a great way to show that special someone how much you care. Everyone deals with stress in their life, so your significant other would probably enjoy a session at the spa or with a masseuse. Luckily, facial treatments and massages have absolutely no effect on your oral health, making them a great gift that has every dentist’s approval.
Flowers or Houseplants
A bouquet of roses has been a symbol of romance for ages. Fortunately, roses and other flowers have never been known to cause any harm to anyone’s teeth or gums, and they make for beautiful reminders of a loved one’s affection. If you want that special someone to have a living symbol of your love, why not get them a potted plant? Houseplants are lovely and generally much easier to care for than pets and will also give your significant other’s home a constant supply of fresh oxygen.
Gift-giving is a wonderful way to show your affection for someone. By giving gifts that won’t lead to dental emergencies, you can show them your fondness while helping them maintain a beautiful smile.
