Summer: The Season of Dental Implants

Someone with a summery smile

If you’re missing teeth, you’re probably heard plenty about what dental implants can do for you. This method of tooth replacement is capable of affording you an incredibly powerful bite, and if cared for well, this tooth replacement can easily last a lifetime.

That said, life is busy; plenty of patients who are interested in dental implants worry about when they’ll be able to set aside time for the treatment. As it turns out, summer is the perfect time to get started with the dental implant process—here’s why that’s the case.

Lots of Soft Foods to Enjoy

In the days after the dental implant procedure, lots of patients adopt a soft food diet in order to make recovery go more smoothly. This reduces the risk of accidentally irritating the dental implant during healing.

Summer happens to be the perfect time to adopt such a diet—smoothies, ice cream, cold soups, and tender meats are all incredibly prominent this time of year, which means that you won’t have to feel like you’re missing out while you’re sticking to soft food.

Take Time to Relax

Dental implant surgery isn’t all that intense, which means that it generally isn’t necessary to take weeks (or even days) off work to account for healing. In fact, most people are able to go back to their normal life as soon as the next day after surgery.

However, it is important that you refrain from heavy exercise and straining activity the day or two after your procedure. When the sun is shining and the days are long, it’s a little bit easier to take a load off—this is the perfect time to relax and recover from your treatment.

Get Ready for Next Summer

Speaking of food, once you’ve healed from your dental implant surgery, you’ll be able to enjoy a lot more of them than you could before. Steak, pork chops, popsicles, and even corn on the cob will all be on the table in a way they weren’t before, which means that your summer barbecues will be much more enjoyable.

If you start the dental implant process now, you’ll be healed and ready to go this time next year. If you want to make next summer one to remember, talk to your dentist about the prospect of getting dental implants.
